Hey all,

Considering bidding for this guitar (link below) next month and was wondering if anyone can offer any opinions into its quality for a 46 yr old guitar, and also, a suitable offer to make. Also, not sure if the colour is considered one of fender's "common" or "rare" colour. Any info or advice would be welcomed.

I could well be wrong but I think that is a refinish, not the original colour.
If only for the reason that the neck pocket floor is painted. Why is there no blue paint on the neck heel? The only reason I can think of is because it was given proper drying time. Something that Fender struggle to do. All my guitars have paint stain on the neck heel.

If it was a refinish, wouldnt the heel have the remnants of the original on it? Sorry, just venturing into this area of guitars so still a bit green on the issue.

looks good...and the color looks to be LPB...but I am with Niki on this, don't ever remember seeing paint in the neck pocket...as Fender production method for spraying bodies was a flat stick screwed on in place of the neck which they used to hold and spray the body. Maybe they changed thier production method in 66? This could be a CBS thing, either way if it is a respray, that does affect the value at least a $2 to $3K easy. If it is a respray it is an older one from the looks of it.

FWIW

Oh come on, that tele has a disgusting amount of mojo going for it.

The refin does hurt the value, but all the cheaper to get it for. Am I right?
