Hi all,

I am writing to ask for your kind opinion regarding whether to actually block the bridge on my strats with a piece of wood (or coins...?!) or to just tighten the spring claw and use the 5 springs to keep the bridge flush against the guitar's body,...

Indeed, I do not use the tremolo at all,...so I have simply used five springs and tighten the claw until now...(I have, however, been careful not to tighten the screws to much...just enough to keep the bridge firmly against the body).

I am fortunate to own 2 custom shop strats (a John Cruz '59 masterbuilt and a '60 teambuilt strat) which already sound really good through my rig...

Do you think it would sound "even better" if I used a piece of wood (brass...???) to block the bridge,... while losening the spring claw and alllowing the springs/bridge to push the block back against another "sustain" block in contact with the body...???

Would that add more punch, sustain and resonance to the guitar???

Is there a particular type of wood (material) block that sounds better than any other...?

How do you guys "block" your tremolo bridges???

Thanks for your expert advice...and sorry for the very lengthy description...hhehehe :D

Peace,
Alexis.

Hi alexvstg,

You should do a search for your subject, this one has been covered many times already.
