Or maybe its the other way around -- a Jaguar disguised as a Strat. I'm talking about the Jaguarillo, one of the latest in Pawn Shop series -- a Jaguar with Strat switching and pickups. So, from a tone perspective, I'm guessing that it'll sound more like a Strat than a Jaguar..

Anyway, I'm considering ordering one -- it seems like the perfect Jaguar for a Strat guy.. So, I'm already wondering about pickups and I figure the Strat forum is a good place to bring this up since we're talking about Strat pickups. The Jaguarillo is an HSS configuration and I want to stay with vintage Strat sounding pickups as much as possible. There is that HB slot to deal with, though.

Any thoughts on what might work well in the HB slot if I go with an SD SSL-2 in the neck position and an SSL-6 in the middle position?

The Modern Player Marauder uses the same 5-way switching system.

I have been eyeing Jaguars.
Get the HH double humbuckers.
Also, make sure you get one with the whammy bar
attached between the first and second strings at the bridge.

Also, make sure you get the Jaguars with all of the up/down switches.

Good luck. Toppscore 8)
