So, I'm new to the forum. I just traded in my first electric guitar, a trashed 1996 or so Mexican Strat that I bought in high school. I feel like I played every note out of that things that it had to give.

I've been mostly playing acoustic for the last few years, but recently got back into the electric gear. I had been playing a hollow body Gretsch G5120, which is a great guitar...but I felt like I needed a primary solid body electric...something lighter, faster

A year ago, I never would have considered another Strat but the sound and feel have really grown on me. I think the original problem was my old one: worn down frets, rusty pickups, gouged finish, bent neck, faulty switch. But the new American 2008s really caught my eye...I like the teles and even tried a Les Paul Studio but ended up coming back to the Fender Strat ...went with the American Standard, black w/ maple neck.

I'm playing through a Hot Rod Deluxe and after a bit of practice yesterday I got some great country tones and it can really shred. The tone and volume knobs on the American are perfectly sensitive...

Congrads!, on the new Strat. As you probably have discovered by now; no other electric guitar allows your individual playing style to come through like the Stratocaster.
