Do you see it here:

You may still find them available as exisiting stock sells off, but they no longer appear in the Fender catalog.

That is strange. It looked to be a nice guitar. I liked the specs.

I wish Fender would give some kind of explanation for the discontinuation. I know it won't happen, but I'm just saying.... I’m wonder if perhaps they just had a 4 year deal to do it and it’s not based on bad sales. I mean, how many of some of these other signature strats do they sell?

I think this is the real reason - I'm sure that Fender just had a set deal with Billy Corgan for the guitar and, based on the financials of that deal vs. sales, made the decision not to renew the deal. In fact, for all we know Fender might have wanted to continue but Corgan himself decided to pull the plug on the deal.

As far as Corgan being a controversial figure who is not necessarily a media darling: I don't think that was an issue since Fender is still making the Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Strat. I don't consider Corgan to be any more or less controversial or polarizing than Malmsteen, but maybe I'm wrong.

There should be more hardtail options imo. The tonal difference is interesting (imo not better or worse, just different).

I think price to the target market was the reason this guitar was retired.

I have a 2009 one and it's an amazing guitar. Frankly, pups, bridge and electronics aside, its very similar to a Highway One, and clear over double the price. I do notice the neck is thicker than a HW1, but not by much. Still, the pickups roar and the in between positions sound just like those on a single coil equipped strat, great for ska 8) Im glad I got one before they were continued.

Here are some pictures:

And obviousle the Discontinued Tom Delonge Strat, but that would be a second hand buy, just thought I'd add it in anyway.
