Just coming back to the forum after a few years absence. Havn't been keeping up with what is popular now when it comes to pickups. Are any of the younger players using red or blue sensors today?

I personally prefer the Lace Sensors myself. I have a EC Strat w/ Lace Sensors and I love it. I've played the new EC Strats and I'm not a big fan.

Nothing wrong with Lace Sensors. I recently discovered the nice sound of the silver version.

I wouldn't say they're out of style. Just not a stock option in Fender guitars anymore.

As such, people seem to be less prone to seek them out but anyone who has them LOVES them.

Personally I like Fender's N3 noiseless pickups just fine, but if I hadn't liked them, I probably would have gone after a set of Lace Sensors.

am i the only one who doesnt like the way they look ? to me they just scream '80's cheese, and i dont think id ever want a guitar with them on, regardless of how they sound. especially if you can get noiseless pups that look standard and sound as good.

You just might be the only one... :D

There was a time in which Les Pauls were "out of fashion" and then Slash helped bring them back. Not to mention there was a time "stratocasters" were not popular until Clapton helped bring them back too... So I'd suspect its just a matter of time before the Lace make their comeback considering they are old enough to be considered "vintage"...

Are you calling the 80's cheesey? Come on! I can't remember when I had more fun.

In that case, I'm gonna start buying up some vintage Kramer's, Aria Pro's, and B.C. Rich's! History always repeats itself. For god's sake, they brought back bell bottoms!

Dude!

It's the late JIMI HENDRIX who contributed a lot to the Stratocaster's increasing popularity.

Buddy Guy has influenced Clapton in his decision to pick up a Strat.

I'm considering a red dually Lace Sensor humbucker for my Squier Strat with a short Gibson scale and single humbucker. I want it wired to where I can use both coils, or either one of the coils in single coil mode. And a killswitch. Billy Corgan used one on Siamese Dream (albeit a single coil Lace Sensor) and that is one of my favorite guitar tones of all time. I don't want to copy his sound, but I'd like to be able to get closer to it for when I play Pumpkins songs.

Buddy Guy was playing Guild till as recently as 1988, probably later.
