Hey everyone,

Been reading these boards for a while, finally stepping up to the plate and posting something.

I just ordered one of the new Hand-stained American Standard Ash models, and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience on keeping this type of finish looking as good as it does this very moment. Is there any type of polish different from the types which clean urethane coating which protect the finish? Anything obvious to stay away from?

This is my 3rd Fender- the first was a 97 American Standard I got when I was in middle school, which was ripped off in my last year of college. I'm sure some of you have experienced this. You forge a relationship with an instrument over several years and some jackass takes it away to a far away pawn shop. Last year I finally replaced it with an American Special- the all black kind. I put some Seymour Duncan cool rails and a JB in the bridge- the thing sounds truly unbelievable. I'd put it up against almost anything. I just picked up this Ash model in Wine Red, and I'm really fired up about it. After putting rails in my Speical, a pure single coiled Am. Std is a necessary second opiton. I have some plans for it, but I'm just gonna enjoy it as is for a few months while my bank account recovers.

Cheers

Where did you order one of those? I saw PGS had them for a short while and haven't seen them since... Beautiful guitars!

I got one off ebay. There are four overall varieties in these- in Wine Red and Mohagany and SSS or HSH. I had my eye on the Wine Red in SSS. It's simply spectacular. Not only does it look absolutely first class- it resonates better than any other solid body guitar I've ever heard.

I just saw one of the SSS version hand stiained ash Wine Red Strats in a shop here last week. Beautiful guitar. The neckplate was engraved "Limited Edition ". The shop owner said they only did 150 SSS versions... Not sure about care instructions but congrats on a beautiful guitar!

Wow that could be really cool if it's true. I doubt I'll ever sell it, but it'll be good to know that it holds its value. It does have that same neckplate. Just putting some Texas Specials in it this afternoon.
