Yep! But with 24 frets I would prefer 2 humbuckers anyway, so moving the neck humbucker slightly down would be no big deal. Or maybe make it a kind of Tom Delonge Strat with just a bridge HB or Bridge HB with middle SC and no neck pu at all.

That wouldn't be traditional, i know, but 24 frets wouldn't be traditional anyway ;)

One of each for me...h/h, h/s (middle), s/s/s...h/s/h, ...s/h/s...for grins, an h, a tripple bucker...or, one guitar, all snap-in parts (interchangeable w/out having to solder), a lockable pull-up bridge that makes changes quick and easy without having to change strings, plus a VG section...w/ lots more options, done -- a gahzillion trick pony!

...if we can devise a retractable fretboard on top of all that, 24-frets retractable down to 21, oh yeah!

Come on Fender, git ur done -- go Leo on this one!

I remember wanting one of those 36 fret Washburn's back in the day. I'm not sure why, the 24 fret Ibanez I had back then was PLENTY!

Nowadayz, 22 is just right!

Just depends upon you goals.
Imagine the scales one could play.

You could go more octaves higher than "Pre-Bobby-Brown" Whitney Houston!

Music or scales?

Cheers

Imagine the scales one could play on 24 frets with a VG section that does pitch shifting...one octave could be added for sure, yielding 3 octaves up each string with the flick of a switch, and if a 4th octave can be added and is usable, discernible by the human ear...4 octaves up each string???

I'm wondering if my fingers would fit on anything past 24 frets. The only way I can get good use of frets past the 21st fret is with 8 and 8.5 gauge strings...would I need to go with even lighter strings to get usable action and tone past the 24th fret!

...how's about a fretless section past fret 24??? A fretless section w/ a VG section that drops the pitch down to normal pitch and then...you've got a fret-full and fret-less guitar in one guitar if you can properly play notes past the 24th fret with accuracy on the fretless section! visa versa???

...you could use a VG processor that does predictive tone adjustment in the upper registers, etc.

...wut about...not two necks per-se, how's about a double decker fretboard???

no, wait...a 12 string guitar, but not like a "12 string", just 5 more strings added to a 7 string guitar!!!

The possibilities are endless!

Washburn is not alone. Hamer also make 36-fretters in the past, called the "Virtuoso" series.

Not sure if Fender (who owns Hamer since a couple of years ago) would reissue these 3 octave monsters!

Quote:
Virtuoso (1987 - 1991) - Small contoured double cutaway body with a glued-in 36-fret neck (26.25 inch scale length) with maple fingerboard (perhaps only one was built with rosewood board), six-on-a-side reversed peghead and a scalloped neck/body joint. Fitted with a single Seymour Duncan "Hot Rails" pickup (angled on early guitars only) and either Sustain-block bridge, Floyd Rose or Kahler trem..

Most Virtuosos have a Scalloped fingerboard. An exception to this rule is the red guitar shown top left, built for Gary Moore. Fewer then twenty Virtuosos were built, including the quilted maple example shown middle left. Note that on this later guitar the pickup is not angled. Also shown on the left, two early Virtuosos in the factory in 1987, including an example in natural korina, although it is believed that all the early Virtuosos have korina bodies. Both are fitted with a single-coil size OBL humbucker. The red one in the picture is not the guitar shown above.

There was a run of ten Virtuosos from 1987 that carry unique numbers from 0001 to 0010 (in various fonts) including the Gary Moore guitar. Details found to date are 0003 is metallic green, 0007, 0008 and 0009 are red and 0010 is black ;they all appear to have a sustain-block bridge and gold hardware. After this most carry regular serial numbers.

Even though I do not use the 22nd fret all that much, I like it there when I play in the key of A. I can do the high end of the scale, hold that note and let it sustain for a while.
