I'd buy a sig model if it was the only model offering something I wanted specifically, such as a certain neck shape with a certain fretboard radius. The only sig model I've played is the EC strat (in green) which was absolutely GORGEOUS.

Mike Rutherford, of Genisis and Mike and the Machanics, uses an Eric Clapton Stratocaster, which means we'll probably be seeing a Mike Rutherford signature Eric Clapton Stratocaster in the future

I really could care less if the guitar is sig or not. If it's got what I like, I'll buy it... with or without signature.

Of all the many Strats I have owned, the two that I have kept the longest are my Malmsteen Strats.

My Malmsteen is by far the best Strat that I've ever played. Actually, it's the best guitar that I've ever played. I suppose I could go out and buy a non-sig Strat and spec it out like a YJM, but in the end it'll cost me just as much with a scallop job.
I'm a scallop addict as well. My AmDlx V-neck is going to get sent out for a pro scallop job.
