Hi All
I have just looked at a Todd Krauss 50th anniversary start. It is a closet classic so it has lacquer checking back and front which is fine , what concerns me is that there are marks on the fretboard around the 3rd and 5th fret on the 'b' and 'g' strings where the lacquer is almost gone. what I would like to know is , is this to be expected on a CC or has this been done since to was bought . If any one owns one or has any info , this would be greatly appreciated .

Many Thanks
Mike

Hi islander99,

It sounds like the slight "relicing" that would normally be on models like this, but you should post a pic.

A better place to ask might be the Let's Talk Custom Shop, or the Ask Mike Eldred, parts of the forum.

These guitars did come with some relicing. It kind of freaked out some of the buyers who didn't understand what the goal was.

Read about this in the Costom Shop book.

Looks like you tried a Custom Shop 54 50th anniversary; all these were master built by all master builders, and all had, if I'm not mistaken, this lacquer checking.

I tried one 2 month ago (a John Cruz one), magnificent guitar, but the price was a bit too high and the seller did not have the COA.

Another time, maybe .... :|
