I've got 2 Fender Guitars, an American Made Heritage Deluxe Strat and a MIM Nashville Deluxe Tele. I like both of them. The MIM is an excellent guitar but I am going to throw some Seymour Duncans in it though.
I don't like to have to work to get good sounds out of my guitars. I like 'em to play like a knife going through warm butter. Now, here's my question. How do I lower the string height as low as possible without getting any fret buzz? I read somewhere that Eric Clapton has his set at 1/8 inch all the way up the neck. Thats the way I'd like mine to be.
Make this clear cause I'm not a rocket scientist...I'm a guitar picker!

Have you adjusted your saddles ? You can lower them but you also need to make sure that you don`t lower them too much or you`ll get a buzz in the strings.

Lower them 'till they start to buzz, then put them a little higher.
Make sure the strings follow the curvature of the fingerboard.
Are you sure about 1/8 inch on the EC Strat, that's 3.2mm, with that
height you should have no buzz at all.
My Strat's action is 2mm on both E-strings at the 12th fret, no buzz.

Well, thats what the article said so its just 3rd hand information. Who really know what height Eric's strings are but him and his guitar tech and they ain't tellin'. 2mm sounds more to my liking. I like my strings really close. I don't want to have to play the thing with a set of vice grips. Hey, thanks for the 411.

Considering Erics' insane velosity, I'd guess that the strings are at about .002 RCH.
