Hi all just a quick question.
I have just picked up my new American deluxe strat (pearl with brown pick guard). I am really disappointed as the pick guard seems to be scratched all over. Not pick scratches more like someone has dropped the guard on the ground or something. Am I mistaken in believing that the pick guard should be in mint condition with a protective plastic coating over it. There was no protective coating on mine just the remnants of it around the screws where someone didnt bother to loosen the screws to remove it properly. This almost seems to me like it a showroom demo. I would hate to think I have payed new price for a second hand guitar.

if you were told it was brand new when you brought it, at the very least it shouldnt be scratched at all, and probably should have the plastic still on it. the fact that you can still see the remains of the plastic underneath the screws, would indicate to me somebody has removed it, for whatever reason.

did you pick it up in person and walk out of the shop with it all scratched up ?
