Just picked up this 1989 Strat Plus. Same guy owned it since '92. He said the guitar was all original with the exception of the roller nut being replaced with a graphite one. Here are my questions: is the value affected greatly with the nut change? Also, he told me it was a maple body, but can I assume it is ash? Lastly, the pickups are Lace Sensor, but the script has worn off, did they put all Gold model Lace Sensors in this model? TBX tone control is still intact and working and also has original brushed aluminim locking tuners. Picked it up for 600.00, so I think I did OK. It does play nice. Thanks for any info.ImageImageImageImage

Aside from that absolute monstrosity of a nut replacement job, looks superb!

Definitely get that nut sorted out - at least it looks like he used the existing mounting holes, so another Wilkinson roller nut should fit straight on with the minimum of fuss, and take it back to original specs.

It's Ash with gold Lace Sensors. Nice.

Great score for $600. I would have paid that for a 1989 Plus. As already mentioned, this is a solid Ash Standard Strat Plus with the Gold Lace pickups. These pickup voice the vintage 1950's Strat single coils and do a good job of it, IMHO. Good thing the neck was not butchered putting that replacement nut on. You should get a Wilkinson nut and replace it so it is back to stock. That nut is really funky.

Everything you would want to know about this guitar is on my website at: http://xhefriguitars.com/page2.html

Thanks for the info guys, the guy I bought it from said his luthier told him the roller nut was on it's way out, so that's why it was replaced. In checking around, the Wilkinson nuts are kind of rare and fairly expensive. Can I go with an LSR or will it not fit?
