hmmm...no apology!

I am convinced your comments in both threads are derogatory in nature and were meant to impugn my integrity.

Clearly, you are hijacking this thread at the expense of the people who are seeking and giving help.

You should be ashamed of yourself, but obviously, you are too full of yourself to realize this.

I'd like to get back to the discussion of buttery versus stiff action, please!

I think some guitars are just more buttery or stiffer to play than others, even when they are well set up. I have a number of Strats and they all vary slightly in how they feel, even when setup nicely, each one is an individual. I did read somewhere once that some of this "Stiffness" variation can be a result of how the neck wood was cut and the slight differences in grain angle can translate to the feel of the finished guitar. I also find I become quite a bit more sensitive to this Strat to Strat variation when I spend longer periods of time just playing Electrics, if I spend time also playing my Acoustics, all my Strats feel nice and buttery.

I'm amused by the OP's description. So what is "BUTTERY" action? Greasy strings?

Different brands of strings can give your guitar a stiffer feel. Anyone who has ever used Dean Markley Blue Steels will back me on this.

It's when you pickup one guitar and you get clear, loud, easy to play tone verses a guitar that's a struggle to play, all things being almost equal.

The stiffest strings I've played thus far are older GHS Boomers, I haven't played them in a while, so I don't know if they are still stiff like they were when I played them!

The DMBS's felt less stiff than the boomers but not as buttery as the Fender Super Bullets or the D'Addarios, the DMBS's goin' buttery when warm and wet, rather stiff when cold!

It seems like the guitar tells you what it likes...it sings and is buttery when you put the right brand and gauge on with a proper setup...proper setups contributing dramatically to buttery.

Buttery is also practice, practice, practice -- stamina and dexterity that facilitates easy playing, you know, how some guitarists make the most difficult songs look easy!

Also, when women are around...the feel goes all buttery for me if it's not already there and I'm in robot mode off in another world whilst my hands are doing their job.

It's a compilation of factors!

Oh, and continuous current reactive feedback from a tube -- we're talkin' hot tasty butter with a buttery guitar!

Another tool just added to my arsenal, the Xotic EB Booster -- it ads butter to butter, however they do it. It seems like the device is sensitive to ambient noise and creates even more continuous current reactive feedback, what I call goin' liquid!

Well, since we're talking dairy product metaphors, does it follow that a "buttery" guitar could still be "cheesy" even with "creamy" sounding pickups or am I just "milking" this?

You are full of yourself and you obviously don't have the character and self-respect to offer me an apology for ridiculing me -- you just keep spewing your ridicule. Shame on you!

"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
Arthur Schopenhauer
German philosopher (1788 - 1860)

I guess you are trying to take me through the first stage of the opposition of the truths I am presenting -- ridicule!

Now you owe me two apologies!

Just don't go getting violent with me!

Martian, butter and cream are the main ingredients of a classic cake icing recipe that yields a sweet tasting cake. So no, not cheezy, -- it's called goin' liquid; combing a buttery guitar and creamy pickups with a hot tube amp makes for sweet tone. When you combine the heat of your hands with sweet tone coming out of an amp, continuous current reactive feedback, it's like the icing melting on the heat of your tongue, the icing goes liquid -- hence, we can extrapolate from this "goin' liquid", not goin' cheezy!

whoop, there it is! whoop, there it is!

LOL!!!
