I am honestly pretty new to Fender guitars, but I am interested in getting one online. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this one is worth it. It is a MIM with double humbucker for $300. Please respond because it may be gone soon.

I can't see your picture or link.

I think that whenever you're buying a used guitar online without having played it, you're taking a risk.

Stratocasters only come stock with 3 single coils or 1 humbucker and two single coils (although in the past there have been years where they may have been offered with two humbuckers stock). Right there comes the quiestion about how good of a soldering and grounding job was done when the additional or two additional humbuckers was added.

Generally, Fender's necks are rock solid...I wouldn't worry too much about that. But I would consider fretwear and the frets themselves as older MIM Standard Stratocasters have smaller frets.

I wouldn't worry about the guitar's body...wheter 3 or 5 pieces of Alder...shouldn't make much of a difference. As for the finish, I also wouldn't worry about it since its Poly.

I've been told by a respected Luthier in town that tremlo mass doesn't effect the sound enough for the the average player...a recording musician may notice though.

IF your MIM Stratocaster was produced from 2009 to the present you should have an excellent guitar in every way as long as the humbuckers were properly installed. But at the same time this is only my opinion since in 2009 a minor upgrades were made making it almost on par with some American Stratocasters (after installing quality pickups).

I'd just be concerned with the reputation of the seller, shipping and whether or not you can return it if unsatisfied.

But for $300, if its in good shape and you want a Stratocaster...I'd buy it! :D
