Hi everybody, I'm from Russia, so sorry for mistakes . and I've just bought Fender Stratocaster 2004 made in Japane. and i found site to confirm serial number and to learn where it was made,and it shows me unrecognized number. the number is - R042876. It really disapointed me. I have found some information that people like me with Fenders of 2004-2005 Japane have the same problems. so can u help me ? . the sn is R042876

Try using this website and see if can find your guitar amongst the ones there. Or if you can post a couple pictures here on this forum, then someone will probably be able to help you out with some info.

Does the guitar say Made in Japan or Crafed in Japan? I have seen the R srial number for the CiJ serial and the serial number you mentioned. Could you explan why you were disappointed?

Robin, I can't see any pics of SN on this bass and probably Author did a mistake. But anyway it's bass, not an electro guitar so may be it's possible to have the same Sn. but maybe im wrong I don't now. Don't be dissapointed because the serial number didn't come up...the list is not perfect. Here is another web site that shows the range of serial numbers. Sometimes the closest you can get to dating your guitar is a couple year span. Don't be upset, from the pics it looks like a fine guitar. Play the crap out of it and enjoy it.

Perhaps I missed something on this posting, but the Fender website clearly indicates,
"Crafted in Japan R + 6 digits....2004-2005", under product dating.

Ooops!...I gues I missed the "Made in Japan", Not "Crafted"

why 1994-1995 o_O ??

Fender Japan used a prefix and a series of numbers. Most of the “Made in Japan” guitars have a 6 digit number, while the “Crafted in Japan” guitars us a 5 digit number (excluding the A prefix!) This guitar has the 6 digit number and says Made In Japan on the headstock.. While Fender Japan does not list a "R" serial number for the Made In Japan guitars, it is obvious that some were produced, by looking at the guitar in question on this thread. Here is the MIJ serial numbers for the R era:

P + 6 digits 1993-1994
Q + 6 digits 1993-1994 (R follows Q... )
S + 6 digits 1994-1995
T + 6 digits 1994-1995
