First of all, it is a guide, meant to provide the average player information on how to do a basic setup . The things you are talking about are items that a QUALIFIED guitar tech or luthier would check IF the basic set up procedures don't result in a playable guitar. I have used the Fender set up guides on all of my guitars (Fender and non-Fender alike) without any problems or without resorting to the items that you claim are missing from the "guide". I find them quite clear and easy to follow. All my guitars are fully intonated with no fret buzzes or any other problems.

Hey paul!

If you want, I can take you through the process of doing a complete setup right here!

It's real easy once you learn how to do it.

You missed the boat on this one and don't seem interested in helping Paul learn how to do a complete setup. You seem more interested in bagging on me from thread to thread.

You are interfering with the growth of other people who will benefit from the information they are asking for and I am willing and able to impart upon them!

If you visit sites like TDPRI, you'll find lots of beginners doing complete setups, and then some, with the guidance of people like me who are willing to pay it forward!

Check your ego homie -- lighten up!

I directed the OP to a standard procedure that he can easily follow. So far all you have done is talk without providing any detailed information on how to do what you recommend. Rest assured, I don't intent to waste any more time with you.

Thanks again for all the input guys. An axe with rotten intonation is aggravating. I use a lot of closed chords throughtout the neck range. Its not so bad soloing as you can hide it with some bends and what not but start using closed chords up and down the neck and its very noticeableble. I'll do some legwork locally to see if there's a reputable set up man available..gotta be one within driving distance. I just want it done correctly.
Central Jersey is nice, I've spent a lot of time in Jersey in years past particularly north jersey..Patterson, Passiac, Arlington, Jersey City, S.Kearney, Clifton, Newark, Hoboken, Weehawken, pretty much all over.
I look forward to using the resources and helpful info found here, and plan on doing a lot of reading.

Paul never responded with a "sure, sounds good." So, no sense delving into it all that until he's ready.

Check your ego homie -- lighten up!

Step #1. Purchase Guitar Player Repair Guide by Dan Erlewine. It has many photos, diagrams, etc. It is put together so well, that even a dummy like myself has found fruition in my attempts. Warning: I find Teles harder to work on than the incredibly cooperative Strat!

Howdy!

If you can get your guitar over to Martian, DO IT! I seem to remember forum user Kong was seriously chuffed with his Strat after Martian had worked his magic!
