Where I'm a Hendrix freak of the highest order(I have a lefty Strat strung right that coincidently is identical to Randy's)and have playing Hendrix covers in bands since 1970,I have known about Randy since the mid 70s and am a member of his fan club.He is by far the ultimate Hendrix tribute player and the only one who truly seems to be channeling Jimi.

When Al Hendrix was still alive he attended a Jimi memorial concert to celebrate what would have been Jimi's 50th birthday I believe and Randy was on the roster to play.Al insisted on meeting Randy as he was so touched by Randy's job of playing Jimi's music so much like Jimi would.Anyway they met in a hallway and were both walking to an after concert party at the venue. When they came to the doorway of the reception room Al held the door open for Randy and said "After you Jimi." this wasn't a Freudian slip but it was Al's way of thanking Randy for keeping his son's music alive.

Randy has every nuance of Jimi's playing and his every move down pat but to capture Jimi's playing style takes a massive amount of God given talent and Randy is the only person that I've heard who's indistinguishable from Jimi's playing. Many have tried but none have nailed it like Randy. As I mentioned channeing before it's like Randy has inherited part of Jimi's soul to be able to play like that,he just blows me away and really inspires me to try even harder to capture Jimi's playing style.

BTW: When they were doing the war movie Apocalypse now the producers approached Randy and asked him to provide the sound effects for some of the battle scenes as he is quite able to coax the sound of bombs droppng and exploding from a guitar as well as making it sound like fighter jet squadrons and bombers flying over.Randy is most likely the only guitarist on the face of the earth who can do a credible job of playing Jimi's epic anti-war dirge Machine Gun.It's little wonder that some people believe that he's possessed with Jimi's spirit as he appears totally taken over by Jimi's persona whenever he plays.

Wow, guitslinger great story.
That's the first I've ever heard of randy (ashamed)
It was Erie how true he stuck with the hendrix persona.
1st video and thought, man what an amazing player.

I have a couple of Hansen albums (vinyl, I mean). I believe Randy had one of the very first Floyd Rose set ups.
