for the last few weeks i've been using my 1994 USA std strat as my number 1 , it sounds excellent but i just can't get on with the neck , after last nights rehersal / jam (we were trying out a keys player , i decided to put on my old mij neck with the 7.25 radius , i changed it over tonight and done a setup , wow , it's like a new guitar 8) , i'm going to try and pick up a rosewood board 7.25 radius neck for it , who would have thought it  , my wife said i'm nuts (as did my daughter ) but the playability has jumped through the roof , i love it , cheers
Alan

Clapton mixed and matched parts from different strats to make one ultimate strat when he started using Blackie. Blackie is composed of what Clapton thought were the best parts of at least 3 different strats.

So no, I don't think you're crazy. You're doing something that top level musicians have done in the past to get their best possible instrument.

I use '62 Reissue now all the time, with the 7.25 radius,it's what I grew uo with and I love it...anyone who says you can't bend and play the blues with that 7.25 is crazy.
Very good looking Strat,btw!

hi rebelsoul , i'm starting to think this way , i just can't get used to the flatter modern necks at all ,and as you say , there are people who don't like them , but i can bend better and wail away better on the old necks much easier , i seem to get better control for vibrato and bends , and overall playing is a joy  and thank you very much for the kind comment about my now fave strat 8) , cheers
Alan

You are absolutely sane Alan, neck radius has a great impact on how well people play guitars.A lot of people prefer a smaller radius neck because it's better suited to the natural curvature of the fingers when doing barre chords especially.A flatter radius may allow easier bending without fretting out but many people find them uncomfortable.

I agree, the 7.25" is just so comfortable. Going from my LP to my Jag is like day and night, makes me wonder why I ever put it down in the first place.

I love the 7.25" radius of my Blackmore neck. It just feels right.

Cheers,
Robin
