Your strat has no string trees because it has staggered tuners. The string threads in at a lower height progressively from low E to high E.

Vintage strats have one string tree to be period correct. It's a fault on the original design. The parallel headstock means you can't achieve enough of a break angle over the nut to have clear sounding open strings that don't sound like sitar strings.
The open G string in particular on these guitars sounds squarewave.

American Standard and Highway one (I think) have two string trees. The 2nd tree (on the D&G strings) causes enough down pressure behind the nut to eliminate the squarewave sounding open G found on vintage reissue strats.

The American Standards had one string tree since the tuners feature staggered posts.

I think you're talking about the "old" American Standards from the 1986-2000 period. These are completely different beasts compared to the "newer" American Standards which came into the scene 4 years ago.

Ditto. I've owned the old American Std. and I currently own an '04 Am. Series. I feel that the new Am. Std. kept all the good things from the Am. Series and added better pickups and bridge.

The old Am. Stds were nice, but less accurate to the vintage Strats from the '50s and '60s.
