I have a strat i bought in 1992. The s/n starts with F0xxxxx (not sure if 2nd digit is a zero or the letter O. Anyway it only has 21 frets but the back of the neck is stamped "made in U.S.A" and it also has a little black sticker stating the same just below the stamp. Fender wasn't able to track the S/N. I bought is 2nd hand from some bozo who couldn't play and it still had the tags on it. I am trying to determine if it is indeed an American Standard strat because it only has 21 frets. Thanks for any help.

According to the serial number:

Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan
in the Year(s): 1986 - 1987

curious to your source since Fender said it couldn't locate the S/N.
Why would it be stamped made in the USA? Is this common?
Thanks for all your help.

the F only indicates the year if it was made in Japan. Not saying it wasn't but it is clearly stamped (wood is actually indented) with "Made in U.S.A.

Looking at what the database says about it (For Fender Japan), I'm wondering if it was a NON-Export model.
