Can't get a better strat for the money, it's a great sounding
strat.

Good to hear... Just started playing again, and recently picked up a Deluxe Player. Love it, but find that it sounds better a little "dirtied-up" tone-wise, which is great, but I'm still wanting something with that classic Strat sparkle. Played a Classic 50s and liked it a lot- thinkin' that, on paper, the Classic Player 50s has even more to offer...
By the way- any idea what the "custom pickup switching" in the catalog write-up is, exactly?

Has all the specs here, it has 57/62 pickups with the mid rwrp
So you have humcancelling pos 2/4.
Sumnabich comes in black and the cp 60s has a CAR.

I've got a CP 50's and its my favorite -- great vintage tones, nice v-neck, very stable trem/bridge tuning-wise.. If you're looking for that '50s look and tones, the CP 50's is my recommendation...

One important thing to note is that you don't relly get hum canceling in the 4 position because the Custom wiring adds the Neck+Bridge in that position. (it has a 5-way superswitch in it)
It's easily changed if you want to move a wire or two.
Other things of note is that it has locking tuners and a two-point trem. Some people don't like the two-point, but if you LIKE to use your trem, then I think it's nicer than the classic 6 screw (IMHO). It's more of a pain to block two-point if you don't plan to use it.

I love mine.

Hey- thanks, for the info- if you could, please explain exactly how the 5-way superswitch works. I'm concerned about this, in particular, since I'm looking for a "traditional" style Strat to balance out the Dlx Plyr and its extra pup combinations, and less sparkly pups (which sound great w/a little dirt on 'em, tonally)- kinda like the old & the new(er). My other thoughts were to go for a Classic 50s, which I've played, and liked, or to pick up a standard on the cheap, and add in 57/62s. Also, I've no experience w/ the 2-pt trem, but on my current Strat I keep the bridge decked- see any reason why this would be a problem? (I don't use the trem at all).

I'm away from a computer where I put more detail (on my phone), but the superseitch allows for a whole lot of wiring combinations that are not possible with a standard 5way switch. It functions exactly like a standard switch however
It CAN function just like a stock switch, but you would have resolder a couple of wires.
I can post wiring diagrams when I get back if desired.

Hey, Eddie- thanks a million for the info- really just wondering, at this point, exactly what the switch does out-of-the-box.

Out of the box its going to give you the neck and bridge pickups in the position that is traditionally the neck and middle pickup. this gives you a bit more telecastery sound in that position.

Gotcha. Can get the neck/bridge combo on my D.P., and it does sound kinda like a Tele, even w/ the noiseless pups. Are you happy w/ the 57/62s, overall?

You could get the mim strat, and 57/62 pickups .
But I would def get the cp 50s, the neck is a soft that feels comfy
And beautiful .

I really like the 57/62s, but I must confess they are no longer in that strat. My house is very electromagnetly hummy, and doesn't like single coils. I replaced them with the Dimarzio Area pickups. The Area 58 sounds extremely similar to the 57/62s.

+1

The DiMarzio's have a skosh more grunt but otherwise deliver prototypical Strat tones (minus the hum of course).
