Hi everybody!
I've got a nasty question, hope someone can help!

In Spring of 2001, after 3 years of Squier, I've got my little precious (Clarice the name), a Fender Stratocaster '57 Vintage Reissue, and I think I will ask to be buried with her. I just love her, the way she's built, the V neck, the touch, the feel, more than everything the SOUND she has.. just incredible.

But there's this doubt I have. Clarice is Fiesta Red, and that day at the shop (one of the largest shops in all Italy - pizz'mandolino, yay :D ) I won't deny I was looking for something sunburst. But you all might know, when you try a guitar and you suddenly feel you can't no longer live without her, there's only one thing to do. So, before deciding to buy THAT guitar, I had asked to one of the guys of the staff if there actually were any Vintage Reissue Sunburst '57 Strat (I was 16, hehe). I had almost forgot about that guy, and he showed up the very moment I got my receipt, saying something like "Well, looks like there're no Sunburst version of this model, and even this color is no longer in production.." then he looked at me with a quite strange wink, I never understood why. Well, still today, I can't figure out the year of birth of Clarice. Since I really don't like the idea of rip her in pieces to check on the neck end, does anybody know something about it? Thanks folks :)

Yeah just check by the serial number at the back of the headstock.....from the Fender.com site under "Support" there's a link to the Serial number for American made under "Product Dating".That should be able to tell you....or go to Guitar Dater Project

Unfortunately, Guitar Dater Project was no help
In fact, I received the advice to take off the neck to see the date printed on the end of it.
Still I have hope, my serial n° is V133266.
It would already be useful if anyone knows when Fiesta Red '57 Reissues were no longer in production.. :?:

Honestly that is what i think you should do to determine the production date....

LOL!!I know what you mean dude....she's your darling and its your prized possession....but IMO taking out the neck to check the production date is rather harmless when compared to adjusting the truss rod/changing pickups/pots....at most you just need to do an intonation check...

Be gentle with Clarice....if you do find out please do drop in and tell.

Or is there anyone in the forum that could help Matyas with his concern w/o the need to take off the neck would be great.I for once too like to know how to determine it...

I have a 57 vintage reissue with serial #V144xxx and it was made September 2004, I don't know how many they make a year but that might be a good bench mark

Mmh.. sounds possible.. because having a look to my photos I noticed that it wasn't 7 years that I own Clarice, I should have bought it in early 2004.. mmh. So I guess I'll take this one. Thank you so much Sandwich! ^^
