I think this happens to us all at one time or another. It will happen more than once, too.

The following is what has worked for me in the past:
1. Listen other styles of music.
2. Listen to how other instruments play lead parts (i.e. violin or sax).
3. Nothing improves playing and forces you grow than playing with other people. You learn from other players and you stretch your abilities. Try to play in bands that aren't playing blues. I'm in a Christian Rock band and I have to play other lead styles where blues might not always fit.
4. Learn to play other chord forms. For instance, I can play most major, minor/7th, minor and 7th chords in about 6 different forms. There are a lot of lead guitarists who playing chord progressions that are a highbred rhythm/lead. The Edge and Andy Summers come to mind right off the bat.

If you send me your e-mail address I will send you a power point presentation that has some information that might help. You can e-mail me at parist1@hotmail.com

I take it that you know the pentatonic "box" pattern that you use for playing the blues...right?
Let's say Am on fret 5.....then you have the same pattern on fret 17....start at your lower box,and make up connecting licks using the notes in that key, working your way all the way up to the second box,and then back down the neck....that will make you learn the notes in the scale between the two boxes.....when you figure out some licks that you can play,it will help you play ascending riffs, and descending riffs....then you'll be able after practice,to start at different places on the neck using your "connecting licks"...and you will discover "your phrasing".
I could show this to you on the guitar in two minutes and you could practice it for years refining it.....I've done it with so many others, and use it all the time myself.
