so the local guitar center is closing out the fender samarium noiseless pickups at 89.95. i have been wanting new pups for my mim hss strat, so out comes the card.

get home, have a little supper, and install the neck and mid pups, leaving the humbucker in. they sound great-no hum.

now for the weird thing- i am getting a hum from the bridge pup, which didn't hum before. tomorrow i'll be pulling the pickguard off and see what the deal is.

never a dull moment

problem solved. decided to go to traditional s-s-s setup. got a new pickguard, installed it with the new pups, and it sounds great.
