i got a lead on a set of noiseless samarium pups (did i spell that correctly?) at a good price but i do have a question.

when replacing the pups in my 09 mim strat, will i need to change the pots too? is it just a pull out the old pups and replace them with the new ones (soldering of course), or more complicated?

i'm good with a soldering iron-just want to know what i am getting into

SCN (samarium cobalt noiseless) pickups sound great with 250K pots. I have them in my 09 MIM Standard Strat and love the sound. Dead quiet too.

If it is a MIM Standard Strat with three single coil pickups, yes. You can measure across the two outer terminals of each pot with a DVM to confirm.

i have the hss model. i was thinking of getting a new pickguard to go with the new pups. i want to get back to that classic strat look.

the other possibility is to just replace the neck and mid pups on my current hss. would i need to change pots for any reason?

I think Fender uses 250 Kohm pots with HSS guitars. You can measure them as I described above to make sure. If they are, there is no need to change them when installing SCNs.
