do you prefer your strat pickups to be bright, but have full control from your tone knob.
im only curious because, my hot rod 62 strat 57/62 pickups have a great tone, but can be
very bright but rolled to 7 on the tone knob and its all good.
they overdrive great, but thats about where the sweet spot is, but not alot of dirt.
positions 2 and 4 are very quacky, and my favorite position for rhythm and some leads.
solos from position 5 (neck) to pos 1 bridge. i just wish there was a little more low end,
not alot, just alittle to put over the edge.
ive been on the fence on changing pickups on my hr 57 for some bare knuckles mothers milk.
are these compareable to 57/62? brighter better low end?

Can't say I have any experience with the bare knuckles pups. Personally I am pretty satisfied with some nice 50's single coils, but everyone is different.

SCNs are kind of a touchy subject. Some people dislike them; others swear by them.

Sorry for not being much help as far as suggestions go. But I will be one of the first not to tell you what to get

Adding a base plate to your bridge pickup and changing the tone cap to a .022mfd might yield a bit more sonic flexibility and eliminate some of the "bite".

Hi bluestrattone: I can't answer that for you, but I do know that Tim at BareKnuckle is usually very helpful in replying to exactly these sorts of queries. It's the air he breathes. You can email him here:

https://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/main/aboutus.php

I'd be curious to hear what sort of response you get.

Or alternatively, there is also a Forum on that website.

I've never tried the Mother's Milk set, but my experience of other BareKnuckle pickups has been superlative. Very expensive, but worth it if you can run to 'em, to my ears.

Good luck - C

Nothing against scns, as i like them, but I have an itch to make
My HR 57 strat more into a 50s strat .

I think Fender is using .047's now.

Currently I'm hot on the .022uF Mojotone's.

I like the '57/'62 Pickups because they are low output pickups.

I don't tend to use the tone controls on my guitars and I mainly use the neck pickup (when I do need a bright tone, I flip to the bridge pickup). So I guess I am happy with the overall tone balance of the '57/'62s (and vintage Fender pickups in general).
