An often overlooked pickup in these days of boutique names and hand wiring frenzies!

Still one of the best working Strat pickups in my book, just seems to sound good no matter what you put it though. May not have quite the depth of some of the more exotic pickups out there, but it's damn close and extremely consistent, particularly when pushing a loud tube amp. Can lack a bit of top end, but sometimes that's a good thing with a Strat.

I have a set in one of my backup Strats, and one in the mid position of my main Plus, which incidentally has also been stripped of an SSL-5 in the last couple of days - back to much more vintage bridge pickups for me, as it just wasn't cutting it for cleaner stuff, always had a strange sort of honky midrange when not smothered in flattering distortion.

hi vulpinity , i have to agree with you , a very nice sounding pup , not as harsh as the ssl5 , that will be going back into my black strat once i get it painted , but this pup has given me the urge to change out the other 2 pups to the apc-1 pups as well , i'll see if i can pick the others up , cheers
Alan

These pickups are fantastic for those who want that sweet, midrangey, aged Pre-CBS Strat tonality. They have a softer, less percussive bass, pronounced midrange and a smooth high end. They are kind of like the CS Fat 50s without the "Fat".
