Hi guys,

Came across a "Fender Strat" for sale in a forum I frequent but not sure of it's make/model or even if it's genuine :( The seller has posted the following pics but reckons there's no text or numbering on the rear of the headstock - I thought that's where all Strats had their serial number? There's a number on the chrome neckplate could that be it?

Anyhow here are the pics, if someone could help me determine what it is that would be great:

Thanks everyone :)

Fake.
Mighty Mite neck.
Wrong trem unit.
22fret on what appears to be a mexican guitar.
Horribly squared off 22nd fret.
Horrible paint job.
I'm no fan of three tone sunburst but that is truly disgusting. Fender at least try and get a bit of subtlety and style into that finish.

Oh yeah, the decal on the headstock is wrong.
The position of the volume pot is wrong.

The serial number on the neck plate is usual for vintage reissue and custom shop guitars. VRI numbers begin with a V. Customshop team made guitars generally begin with C then another letter to denote decade.
So ignore that serial no'. Theres too many digits and it doesn't match up to Fender's serial program.

Nikininja pretty much covered it all. The serial number is a dead giveaway for a fake. I've seen a few fakes with the serial number in that location.
