I did put all of my guitars bar one into storage once. That made me a far better player over that three months. I was more focused on playing rather than thinking "hmmm maybe that one?".

Well said. I guess one of the symptoms of GAS is you dedicate so much time looking for gear, that you sacrifice practice time. I'm guilty of that myself.

Though I have quite a number of guitars, I spend zero time trying to decide which one to play and it only takes a minute to switch from one to another.

Take one down, plug it in and play. After a while, hang that one up and take another down. Different guitars, different sounds, lots of fun!

I have one key Strat I play 90% of the time. It is a Strat plus wired like an Ultra. I can get so many tones out of his beast it is all I need and could live with only it. All the others are just special treats from time to time!

Yeah, I'm not sure how the math would work out on 65 guitars and 37 amps, but I think it would take quite a while to try all the different combinations!

I have several electrics. I try to make myself play one exclusively for a month at a time and it generally works. If I had to keep only one of my Strats it would have to be my sienna burst with maple neck. I also have a St Blues Bluesmaster that I keep in the bedroom for impromptu jams on the G Dec that I am rather fond of. 8)

I've only had 1 strat a time. I could have lived forever with my first Strat. A 3 color sunburst California Series. Loved those Tex-Mex pickups, but it was stolen. Now I will live forever with an Am. Dlx.

I could get by with just the Custom Classic (blue), and I do, 95% of the time, simply because it's a superior instrument. ... but how could I part with the white '88 MIJ which I bought new and learned to play on ? ... or get rid of the MIM ash project that I put so much time and effort into ?
I hope I never have to choose.
.....Mark.

I can and do get by with only one strat.
My back up is one tele.
This gives me a bit of versatility.

I could get by with one; I did for a pretty long time. Both of my Strats pretty much do the same thing, and I would never get a Strat with humbuckers - just one of those things. That's what the LP is for. Problem is, I just think I'd have a tough time letting go of one of them - they both have emotional value to me.

I only have one strat, but I have an SG, Les Paul, and Gretsch G5120.

I have each of these to get particular sounds and don't think I could ever let myself go back to one guitar.

In fact, to be totally satisfied with my electrics I have just one guitar left to get. A neck thru style Jackson or something similar. Not sure exactly what pickups but I would want it to be a metal machine. The sound I would want would be along the lines of Anthrax's Scott Ian. I know he primarily uses the bridge pickup so I guess I could start by checking out whatever pickups he's used over the years. The neck, would probably be a Seymour Duncan Jazz or some sort of PAF style 'bucker.
