I currently own seven great Strats, any one of them would be one I could get by with, but there's always that favorite, the number 1..whatever you play,it fits the bill,it has the sound and the feel...if I could only own one from now on,it would be this '62 AVRI.

When someone asks... "just how many Strats does one person need?", the correct answer is always... Just one more!!

And a Telecaster.

Not a Fender (it's a 90's Korean Hamer Slammer), but yea, I could ride this one to the end if I had to. It has a Gibson 498t in the bridge and Benson Custom Handwound in the neck. Although, I do believe I could do just fine with one Fender Blacktop as well.

ive only got one strat. but ive got 2 teles and a third is on the cards.

i never liked strats - they looked too common, i wasnt interested. then i picked one up in a shop because it had an interesting finish id not seen before, and ended up walking out with it because it felt so great to play. just a MIM strat with an interesting paintjob. love it.

im still a tele man really though.

I have owned well and truly over 15 strats over the years.
At present I have a 76 Strat, a Road Worn Strat, a 2009 American Deluxe Strat, but I would choose my 08 Maple Neck 3 tone sunburst American Standard Strat.

It has a bridge pick up that is very versatile and bell like tones on the neck pup and middle pup.

08 American Standard Strat for me :D

Got a few strats. Only ever play one at a time.
I did put all of my guitars bar one into storage once. That made me a far better player over that three months. I was more focused on playing rather than thinking "hmmm maybe that one?".

If I had to pick one. That I could only ever have one Strat. It would be my Hotrod. It's pretty much got everything I need covered. And what it doesn't do, the Tele does. Or the Les Paul.
If it was only one guitar for the rest of my days. It would probably still be the Hotrod.

I doubt it, but luckily, I don't have to. I have several Strats with different pickup configurations and I like them all.

Three examples:

The reason I brought this up was a couple of weeks ago in the Lounge section there was discussion about when did players, regular guys like most of us,start buying multiple instruments....I am as bad as anyone about wanting one more Strat, but all through the late '60s,'70s and into the mid '80s,I only owned one very good main guitar, either a Les Paul or a Strat.
I put all my playing time into that one guitar and it became an extension of my hands it seemed.
Screaming Armadillo said that another member,Jim Bordner I think it was, felt like it would be best to devote all your playing and practice time on one instrument, much like concert violinists do I guess....I can see that when I stick with one guitar I start to feel more attached to it,and that's what I've done for awhile now with that '62.
I still play all the others,though...but I'm going to use that Strat as my #1.

Well, it turns out that I can actually play two at once (I have a doubleneck strat).

But I figure you need at least two Strats so that you can toss one to your guitar tech (if you break a string or knock it horribly out of tune) and grab another to keep the show going.

To add insult to injury on this thread.
Given my agreement with SA and Jim that one instrument is better in a lot of ways.

The local guitar shop owner asked me to quote him for putting up a couple of stud walls. So I roughed out the measurement, around 20m2. Soundproofed too as it's going to be a musical exam room for a local girls school.
I told him to get the material as it would be just as cheap for him to get it as me. On a labour only basis I offered to do it for nothing over a few Sundays or evenings.

He told me not to be daft and told me he'd give me a Fretking Ventura 60's for the job.
Bonus and a half. It's worth twice the price of the job.

What did the old Lays commercial say? "Nobody can eat just one".

If you need an excuse to have more than one there's always "alternate tunings". If you're doing one song in open G in a live set you ain't got no time to tune up. Grab that spare and let her rip.

I got two strats - and they're both red with rosewood finger boards - and they're both in standard tuning. :P
