Post subject: What type of pickups?

I bought a used 97 American Strat a couple of years ago. I own a couple of strats and the pickups seem really bright on this particular guitar. Does anyone know what kind of pickups were stock for a 97 strat? And/or why they seem so much brighter than the stock pickups on my 04 American Standard?

Just standard pickups, but I believe the 90's strats did not have the bridge pup tied into the tone control leaving it much brighter....
