As part of my battle against my death grip I lowered my string gauge right down to .008"s on my Les Paul. High frets, low tension, make for sloppy strings when compared to most Fender guitars. My thinking is that in that setup I have about as much scope to fret too hard and bend notes sharp.
Playing that guitar and being attentive to how I fret notes is helping a lot. Though I've had to slow up a lot. But who needs to play badly fast.
