You should back off the truss rod adjustment you made. If what you did caused the walnut plug at the truss rod adjustment to loosen and move, you have a serious problem with your neck. As it appears from your questions you are not competant to do the set up and adjustments needed, so wait until you can take it in...make sure you describe exactly what you did and make sure they understand it.

From the website you provided it appears the company does know what it is doing, but make sure you tell them what you want in a set up and make sure everyone is clear about what they are going to do.

I will say this, anytime I did work on a guitar when I worked for a Music Store, it was ALWAYS assumed that a set up would be included and was charged accordingly...if you change something and then don't do a set up...well...that just makes no sense.

Yeah I am definitely a novice with regards to doing setups. I'll take it in asap! Thanks for the advice.

One other thing - just because one can build good and expensive guitars, don't necessarily qualify them as a good technician to set one up, and vise-versa.

It is two separate talents.

Hi there the buzzing in the positions you describe i.e. early frets may be due to a dud nut cut. Possibly too low on the strings mentioned.
Poor truss rod adjustment results in the neck being to too convex resulting in buzzing in the mid region or too concave often resulting in buzzing in the higher frets though sometimes in the lower. Maladjustment of the micro tilt normally may cause buzzing in the higher frets assuming the relief is already ok..
Low bridge adjustments may cause the buzzing but you mentioned you already had your action high.
Sounds like you may have already caused some damage so I recommend you leave it to someone more experienced.
I set my necks so I can just see a slight dip approximately halfway when viewed from the butt end. Nothing too extreme.
Hope this helps. :D

Well, I have to admit that I have lost interest in your plight. Hopefully your "luthier" can fix your guitar before you cause any more damage.

Absolutely. I've played some horrendous 'luthier built' instruments over the years, some which went for nearly five figures yet were probably more fit for hanging on the wall than actually playing. Absolutely ravishing to look at, and constructed impeccably, but played (and sounded!) worse than a £99 Squier that had been beaten around in a cardboard box being shipped halfway across the world.

i didn't see anything about where you bought this guitar, except that you paid nearly $1000 for it.
it's not one of those e-bay "we havee bestest deals on rots of genuine factorie guitars because we lisenced builder on all major US model, but YOU make big saving due to our shipping direct from China" Strats is it?

+1

That was my very first thought as well, JJ.

I've seen examples of this many times -- on guitars from every manufacturer. Low-end, high-end, bread-and-butter models, it has no exclusivity to any given price point or country-of-origin.

And any competent luthier would inspect the nut for a manufacturing or installation anomaly before proceeding to more drastic and dramatic corrective measures.

If your tech was competent and did the fret dress and leveling like he should of after a decent setup, there shouldn't be any buzzing. But a friend of mine complained about that once... Until I proved to him, he needs to develop his hand strength. Sometimes the problem is not the tool but the user.

Update:

I took the guitar down to the guy who did the work. I definitely overadjusted the truss rod (total noob error) but once I saw a few people on the board telling what I had done I backed it off before any major damage could be done. He said the curve of the neck appeared to be fine and he did a little more fret work which helped the problem but didn't solve it all the way so I'm going to bring back again this weekend to hopefully square away the problem once and for all.

Bender 4 Life I bought the strat new at Guitar Center in Modesto back in 2006. I kinda fell out of playing for a while so it sat in the case under my bed for a LONG time. It was always stored indoors at normal comfortable temperatures but do you think that could still effects how it plays?

DetriotBlues that could be a source of the problem. The fret buzz seems to go away if I pick lighter so maybe I need to develope my "strat" touch again. I'm pretty out of guitar shape at this point.

Thanks to everyone who gave me some advice, much obliged. Also I have to admit that the thread name is a little too severe. I was just frustrated, my bad.
