Change the site to "the FenderFAQ Lounge" and just close down the site. It's a shame the ole timers around hear would rather sent the newcomers to the search tab rather than give them some assistance. Oh wait I have to remember we are dealing with musicians here. MY bad buddy!

Hi jaknzak: not quite clear - is that aimed at my last post or at Mike?

Cheers - C

It's aim ed at the intorerant lazy posters who would rather sent a newcomer to the search tab rather than answer thier beginners questions. I see than all the time on this site and its aimed at whoever is too lazy to answer the simple questions. If one doesn't want to answer SIMPLY DONT. Oh I know thas is going to make me very popular in this site. OH, I have a right to my opinion too.

Ah, as long as we have the likes of you around, Mike, it'll be OK. You start so many of the positive, interesting, friendly threads; and that's what keeps it worthwhile. So long as we have that I don't mind newcomers arriving to ask about their setup issues or their pickup swap queries: a few of them will stay and get involved in the more rewarding stuff - and that's all we need to keep it going! :D

Odd thing: after the recent bout of bad temper and hurt feelings we suddenly seem to be in a happy, friendly phase of the Forum, at least as far as the bits of it I look at are concerned. I guess what goes around comes around - or summat.

Cheers - C

Agreed.

Not sure I understand *who* the lazy ones really are, jaknzax. This was meant to be
a helpful thread.

In order to make good use of the search engine you have to be very specific with the parameters you put in or you will get hundreds of responses to your query. I've sifted thru hundreds of posts looking for an answer. It's so much quicker to wait for an answer from one of the good guys on here...Mike you're on that list... :D

Forget it Mike, my response wasn't pointed at you personally, but just about half the time I see a new guy with a with a couple of posts is sent to the search tab instead of getting responses. I know how to use the search on this site and it certainly is helpful but at the same time that isn't what this site is for. My point is maybe it would be better just to change it to Fender FAQ search site, since half the time thats what the newcomer hears when he comes here.

I agree that we should be patient with some new user inquiries, specifically questions about how to get their instrument performing better. However, "MIM v MIA", "Rosewood v Maple", and "Roadworn, I just dont get it", don't fall into this category.
If you really want a quick answer, using the search function is much more efficient than making a new thread and waiting days for veteran users to chime in.

Call me a diplomat: I totally understand both sides of this discussion. :D

Hope I've got plenty of patience with newcomers with simple questions, cos that's what's so useful about this site. And some of us can remember not having someone to ask those questions when we were starting out.

On the other hand, there's quite a lot of threads I just don't even click on...

Cheers - C

I don't understand at all.

Google any common strat query and within the first three links you'll have your answer.

Lazy people that won't search for themselves despite having the most powerful education resource the world has ever know at their fingertips. They opt to drudge up some question that has been answered a thousand times. Thats all it comes down to. Never mind having to figure it out for yourself, or be at the mercy of A.N Other. Like when most other users and I began.

That's my opinion. And why I don't respond to those questions. Unless someone else already has and got things a bit off.
