my serial # starts with 100 and the tag# starts with FEN 011--so what years is it ??

The "011" on the tag is the first few numbers of the model number, in this case one of the numbers used for a few different US models. The serial number beginning with "10" on a US Strat indicates 2010.

Take apart the guitar and look at the neck pocket on the body and the neck heal. This will tell you exactly what year you body and neck were made. It won't tell you what year the guitar was put together.

S/N are close, but 100% accurate. My '04 50th Anniversary Am. Series Strat has a S/N that has '03, but Fender didn't sell these guitars until '04.

My EC Strat has a '00 S/N, but I ordered it in Jan '01. It was built for me and delivered in Feb '01. The body and neck have Nov and Oct '00 dates.
