Just like finding out how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, answering your question is the same result. The world may never know.... My guess is thousands, so they aren't really that collectable if that's what you're thinking.

I agree. I own one of the 50th Anniversary Am. Series and they are nice, but I'm thinking that's it really not that rare or going to become a collectable. It's just a nice guitar.

What I do get peeved about is when people try to sell non-anniversary model guitars as anniversary models and then try to sell them for more than they are actually worth. Sometimes this happens because the seller doesn't know and sometimes because the seller is dishonest. Mostly I blame Fender for this. For Fender's 50th and 60th Anniversaries they attached small seals on the back of the headstocks of all their instruements. There wasn't anything special about them. They are guitar made in that year. For instance, my '06 Hwy 1 has a seal. That doesn't make it special.

So now whenever I hear about someone selling a '96 or '06 Anniversary Fender instrument, I pretty much know that it's not.

The bottom line is Anniversary models are nice. Fender puts a little more detail and better quaility into them, but they aren't going to gain a lot of value.

I will say that the 60th Anniversary Strat is nice because it came with a nice case (with a beautiful liner and 60th Anniversary patch on the inside of the case), a man-made diamond in the headstock and some really nice workmanship. I think that it also has some special pickups too, but I don't remember.
