Item http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Stratocaster-62-reissue-/110854789848?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item19cf75dad8
and
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Stratocaster-USA-made-Mint-Condition-/110854601028?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item19cf72f944

This seller has already ripped off 2 people - one of which is fully aware. The other seems to've lost £540 for a 'mint' USA strat and '57 neck.
You can even see the fake parts he buys and throws together to make these fakes - not even slightly subtle.

Please help out by reporting these as counterfeit guitars.

Cheers

Steve

How can you tell the guitars are fake?

Because you can see what he has made the guitars from in his previous purchases. He buys a blue strat copy, and a cheap strat with a fake Fender neck for cheap, and then is suddenly selling a 'USA' strat with no case, no serials (ignored my mail), clearly put together with those parts he just bought.

are you the one that got ripped off?

and in one of the link he says that "he has been told many times that some of the parts of the strat are fake and he has lowered the price"

The first strat in the first link looks legit, but of course the only way to know would be to pull it apart and have a peek......and better pictures would help. It is possible that these are partscasters, but could be assembled from real Fender parts.......if so, would that make it a fake? Only in that he could not sell it off as any certain model in particular!

Isn't "Crafted in Japan" something else than "Made in Japan". This is my learning forum, so I put this in question.

Fender-Japan has use both labels at varying times during its existence.

Personally, I can't get too worked up about someone hawking fake Strats. Fender pays an entire legal staff rather handsomely to deal with these poltroons. Ergo, there's no profit in anybody here getting their panties in a wad over it.

the pics do look to be just about the same. Ebay buyer protection and paypal should protect buyers. I'd also believe if it was proven, Ebay would have banned him by now as well....

You notice none of the pics show the truss rod cover? Looking at his feedback as a buyer looks like he bought some fake fender necks that don't have the maple plug like it would if it were a real fender, so he made sure not to photograph that.

Hi meloncron, welcome to the Forum.

I expect you're right: a quick glance at the seller's history makes it look like that's just what he's doing. Nothing wrong with buying and selling at a profit so long as you don't misrepresent what you're putting out there. But if you do, well, that's fraud. It should get you spanked and sent to bed early, but at the very least it gets you thrown off Ebay.

So here's one to keep an eye on if you're interested. Couple of weeks ago your boy bought this:

Which sports a particularly inviting headstock:

Hilariously, the previous seller even suggests that the Squier decal has been removed so that one can "add a proper Fender logo if you wish":

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300677311302

You suspect that is exactly what wills-independent-trading intends to do, and you might not be wrong.

So what you do: keep an eye on his selling activity and when you see that guitar come up magically now wearing a Fender decal and claiming to be the Real Thing you pop all this evidence in an email to Ebay and they'll probably have him banned for fraudulent activity.

Then you can feel that you've fought the righteous fight and rid the world of evil. A nice enough feeling.

Over to you.

Cheers - C

I noticed that from pics in the 1st link, The neck is raised quite high from the body at the heel, which suggests it does not match.

On the 2nd link, the backplate cover has the screws inline, rather than staggered, This is a clear giveaway of a fake.

Yes, after review of this guy's buying ans selling history, it is clear that he is knowingly and willfully defrauding the public, and forging fake Fender products.

Unfortunately, I see no means of reporting this to ebay unless you were actually duped by this guy. Even then, there's only a 30 day window to report.
