I got a question about the finish, my 50s strat i bought in 2007 the finish still looks like new, i saw the difference between the finish and read mine is polyester, now my question is, am i gonna see some wear any time soon? coz id like that haha

also I have had 2 claptons now, and a rickenbacker, and it seems a bit weird that i always go back to my 50s mexican strat! like i prefer it even more than the ones i mentioned...is this weird? im thinking of giving it a bit of love and changin the pickups for some serious pups and getting it copper shielded

It will not wear like an old nitro body. If you ding it, it will chip, but it won't wear down like a nitro paint job.

You won't see a change in finish for years. You could always strip it down and have it refinished so it will...

In 2107 your guitar will still have that "Simonized" shine.

I've played this 1998 example at close to 1000 gigs and twice as many rehearsals, jams, open-mic nights, etc......

While the hardware and plastic parts have developed some "mojo", the 2TSB finish looks nearly as pristine as the day I bought it fourteen years ago.

These poly-goo finishes are pretty durable.

I see so its just easier to have it refinished with a nitro paint job? i do like the worn look defo. but before i go on, i heard this story of the guy from lovin spoonful that he had this amazin les paul and he had it refinished and he said it soudned different afterwards and he got rid of it, i think he was being dramatic, but is this possible?

I wouldn't change a thing. With the amount of money you'll spend on painting, I would just get a Road Worn '50s Strat. They are great guitars and totally worth the money.

Some people think the finish of a guitar affects the tone. I can believe it if you have a really thick finish on a guitar and it dampens the resonance. However, that is typical for people who play acoustic or clean. If you're playing with moderate to high gain, you won't know the difference. By then, its all about the electronics and hardware....

I find myself picking up my Daphne Blue Classic '50s more than my other guitars. It just feels right. The quality is ultra high and the sound is great coming from the alnico pickups. I like the small frets and soft V neck. I couldn't ask for a better guitar. Not to start another flame war, but it plays just as well as some American Fenders and it plays better than some of them. I love my '50s Classic Strat.

Here's a pic of it with my Japanese '50s Tele:

well ive thought about buying the road worn strat, thing is, im making my 50s a gilmour strat, im buying the full black strat pickup and electronic set in a couple months, and its finished, thing is, this 50s is my main strat, and id like it to get bit of road wear, so maybe it is worth doing the new paint job?

and lovely strat mate, that colour looks brilliant
