Hey there!

I'm purchasing a Richie Strat USA here in Finland. I previously own two mexican made and for the first time I found one in my country.,

I was searching the web for the average value of the guitar and found this site:

http://www.rareelectricguitar.com/Richi ... e_526.html

Something stink. 255,- for the guitra and it doesn't have the active electronics!

so beaware! a lot of fakes on the market!

It's not the USA version but a Japanese Sambora in Snow White.

USA Samboras do have a push-push button to turn off the mid boost.

This guitar lacks off the mid boost circuit; it has a TBX tone control for the middle/bridge pickups.

Pickups are RS singles as opposed to the USA Sambora which sports Texas Specials.

I don't think it's a fake. It's an original Japanese Sambora finished in Snow White.

It does not sport the mid boost circuit and Texas Special pickups, but has a TBX tone control for the middle/bridge pickups and two RS single-coils.

I think you've done a decent job, and (as many here will tell you) if you like your guitar, who cares what anyone else thinks?

If you decide to have it taken apart to fit a push-push switch and mid-boost electronics (I said push-push Chromeface ) I'd also invest in a scratchplate/pickguard which fits your SD properly - that gaping black hole around it in the current one is doing the overall look no favours.

Yes, it doesn't matter where the guitar is made, there's really nothing magical about pieces of wood and some hardware put together. The only thing to be concerned is what you think you are buying at what is actually sold to you. Fact is that a decent instrument doesn't cost somewhere around 300 dollars or euros. If you know you're getting a "fake" then it's okay if the price tag is 1/10 of the originals price. If someone is selling you a fake USA guitar for it's fair price, you're being badly cheated.

In this case i googled a serial number decoder and it placed the 255,- strat to a corona fender factory so i would never buy it. I'm pretty sure that if you're playing a guitar that is sold to you as a real deal you would feel the poor quality. A guitar that is sold at 255,- is manufactured with a lot less so there's no way it could feel like a two thousand guitar.

I believe that USA and Japanese guitars are of the same value of around 2K and mexicans 400-600,-. Everything around 200-300 with star inlays should make you doubt the sellers honesty.

Chromeface, do you mean the one in the link that sambora86 posted?
http://www.rareelectricguitar.com/Richi ... e_526.html

That's not a Japanese guitar - it's a custom build replica. All the guitars on that website are, and they all say they are replicas - seems that's what that company does.
