has anybody had experience with dragonfire hot rails?

as stated in my other posts, i am looking to upgrade the pups in my '09 mim strat. there is a company selling a loaded pickguard with hot rails installed, as well as 3 switches to change each pup from humbucker to single coil

any thoughts- or suggestions for others?

Dragonfire pickups are yet another 'economy' line of pickups. If you want HBs, this could be considered an "upgrade"; if you want any and all pickup combos, this could be considered an "upgrade". In terms of tonality and long term satisfaction, this would be considered a, "modification".

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

Set up properly these are pretty good pups IMO.

I dumped a set in a Squier Strat. Got a preloaded pickguard with three of them. Didn't have a 5 way though, it had three switches, HB on, off and single...

Compared to the Squier pups it was really nice........

Customer was well chuffed.

Will see if I can get a wee shot to post a sound clip if you want.......

Apart from what you see there isn't much to say. Like I said I think they are great for the price.

Oh and when they are in singlecoil mode the tones work as mid-cuts..........

There are some vids on you-tube but the sound is never too great.

I would say they are a definite upgrade from the stock in your MIM.

To be honest, since it's a loaded pickguard, at the price they are, get them anyways and try them.....takes ten mins to wire it up!

If you don't like them, whack them in something else.....job done!! 8)
