Maybe I had a dream but I thought that I saw a Strat that was made from mahogany and had an ebony fingerboard and humbucking pickups. If I was dreaming then can I get one made?

There were a handful of mahogany-bodied Strats built in '62 and '62 but they were otherwise regular production instruments with the usual detail appointments. Most were finished in standard 3TSB but the run included a few custom Duco colors.

If you're a little bit handy, you could get all the components from Warmoth, and piece it together yourself.

Another way to go about it....easier...would be to have Carvin build you one of their Bolt guitars to your specs.

Hi rgrguitar: about five or six years ago there was the American Special Series Strat-o-Sonic, which had a chambered mahogany body and came with a choice of two humbuckers or two soapbars. I think it had an ebony 'board, though I wouldn't swear to it. However, it also had a 24.75" scale length, which some would like and some wouldn't.

Don't remember a mahogany/ebony combo in the catalog since then, but I stand to be corrected.

Cheers - C

I don't know why, but I'm thinking I remember there being a USA Deluxe HSS Strat done in mahogany with a maple neck and ebony fretboard (with no position dots)...I think it came in trans blue...

...might be imagining that though...

Yes, I've seen a ton of these. Mahogany bodies, ebony fingerboards, and humbuckers. They are called Gibson Les Paul Customs.

Trans blue SSS with ebony was the Ash
bad boy blue and the none more black had ebony.
There have been plenty of FSR deluxes in mahogany including an hss with tex mex in front and mid and diamond back in bridge also with the S1 but none that I am aware of came with an ebony board. :D

Hi DB: it's a very pretty guitar! Though I'm fairly sure that's a rosewood fingerboard, isn't it? I do have the feeling I've seen one like that 'cept with a humbucker or two and an ebony 'board, but not a new one for a few years.

They have certainly existed though, so it would be well worth Mr rgrguitar keeping an eye on Ebay if it's what he requires.

Cheers - C
