Well, not all heavy metal was of the Thrash type. Before thrash, there was Budgie, Sabbath, Judas Priest and that kind of thing (NWOBHM). I guess Motorhead would have been the godfathers of Thrash. I was really into Gary Moore in the '80s. I had a subscription to Kerrang! magazine!

I had interest in VII strings from seeing that Duchossoir book, before Vai and all of that. I don't really have an interest now. If I did, a guy could put together a pretty happening VII stringer using Warmoth parts.

I do like the looks of the Fender Select series, but I wish they had carved top models.

I came across one of these elusive 7-string Strats in a local shop just a few months ago! Incredible guitar, cheap and in mint condition. The only thing worth changing about it may be a set of locking tuners but that's if you want to use the trem. I'm planning to refinish it as well, but I do that to all of my guitars
