Is there any way of knowing it is one of the new 2012 with custom shop pickups?

One sure fire way is to contact Fender's customer service with the serial number and get the specs from them.

If it's a 2012 model, then it should normally boast CS pickups.

However, this CS treatment did not came into surface until mid-to-late March.

I think the 2012s with the new specs have aged plastic parts. Are the knobs and pickup covers a darker shade of white than the pick guard?

They look the same to me, but none are a white/white, all seem more like an off white. Is the pickguard not considered a plastic part to?

I have one of the brand new 2012 american std. The pick guard is not aged in color. Only the knobs and the pick up selector have the aged white color. It is basically a little yellower than bright white. Actually, the pickups are also that aged white. So I guess if you see a difference in color between the pick guard and the other plastic parts it is the new 2012 model.

Cheers!

It may take awhile for a response. According to Fender's customer service, they are in the process of switches offices...

Thanks - let me look in good light. It could be a 2012 without the new 2012 specs but the dealer I purchased it from received it in early March...

Thanks. I emailed them late last week and still haven't heard a reply. Was wondering how long it takes

I will say, I don't care one way or the other. I got a very nice guitar, the neck is fantastic and the body is very lively!!!

Are the pole pieces beveled on the edges? My 09 has sharp edges on the pole pieces, from all of the pics I've seen, the custom shops have beveled edges on the pole pieces.

I heard back from Fender - mine was manufactured in February, before the change.

Aside from pickups, what other changes were made?
