The pictures look great, but has anyone actually seen the Candy Green Eric Clapton Strat? I'm debating between that and the black one (which I have seen). GC will order me a green one, but I have to pay for it first...or I can just order one online and return it if I don't like it, but I'd rather get some feedback from people that have seen it in person. Thanks.....

Hello Lafromla1,

Granted black is more closley associated to
Eric Clapton, but those green jobs do it for me.

I've been looking for a green strat too. I'm not sure i've ever seen candy green but i can imagine it and that's what i want. i saw a clip of the guitarist for union station (alison kraus' band) and he had a deep, glossy green strat w/ maple neck and gold hardware. a little flashy-esp w/ the gold but it did look oh so fat. most of my axes are real traditional, butterscotch, tobacco bursts etc. the blackie is iconic/historic and what's not to love but nothing wrong with a little color. even clapton has been playing some crazy guitars lately-almost van halen like w/ multi-colored stripes, etc. he's the man so he can do whatever he wants and it'll still be cool but i don't dare. i imagine the candy green to be like a candied granny smith or a green jolly rancher? deep green, glossy almost wet looking? kinda like what prs does but w/out the highly figured tops they usualy employ. can you tell me where i can see this green you are talking about? as you might've guessed, i'm totally in favor of the green, maybe not gold hardware tho!

i saw the current green for the ec strat & like it tho not what i thought. i saw an 80's ec strat in metallic green tho it didn't look quite metallic green to me but it did look more like what i thought. the new candy green seems a bit lighter than i had thought but still very nice. what do you think of the neck shape. i don't have huge hands but i'm not sure ec does either. i've played his martin 000 sig acoustic and it is awesome. the neck has a "V" countour as well which i'm not all that fond of. i guess the strat has a similar shape. color aside, what do you all think of the neck shape (for those who've played it)?

a question was asked on how we liked the ec sig neck.
is it more pronounced than the soft v neck that comes with 50s classic player strat?
if it is, i like it and my hands are not to big.

I played the black EC strat and the neck was golden. I wear a medium-large golf glove if that is any indication of my hand size and the neck just melted into my hands, exactly like the Jimmy Vaughn strat (which I ended up buying). The V is perfectly sized on both guitars if you dont have big mitts.

akbamg, check out the EC Artist strat on the Fender website and it shows the Candy Green axe.
