Don't completely disregard Fender when looking for an acoustic. I agree that in the recent past, Fender acoustics have sucked, but I recently purchased one and it has a good feel to it and it sounds really good plugged up and unplugged. My suggestion is to go to a shop and act like you're a woman in a shoe store and try on for size every damn thing in the store.
