It seems there is really is such a thing as too expensive .... but I guess it's all relative.

I guess if there are people who can afford these things let 'em but that burnt monstrosity get's my vote for ugly guitar of the week.

I am happy to admit my next NGD will be a NSD (new squier day) .... this surf green beauty:

I wouldn't normally go for a MIC guitar and by the time I've finished modding, it'll be more MIJ (made in (New) Jersey) that and maybe a Peavey bass will be it for this year.

Gibson has been really big about making a guitar that has a some slight modification then doubling the price as a signature model. If the artist signs it or they use aged parts, you can triple the price or more.... Very, very few of their "signature" models are worth the price. You're better off modifing their basic models to achieve the same result.
