For some odd reason, I had in me to look up Stratocasters on Guitar Center again today. Set in a price range and started looking. On the fourth page, I spotted a "just arrived" MIM Sunburst Strat for $299. Eh, not bad. Seen those for sale on CL for cheaper. Opened the picture and WHAM!!! That was not a MIM Standard Strat. Two point tremolo and heel adjustable truss rod.... That could mean only one thing! That is a Classic Player Strat priced wrong! They run between $550 to $700 on the used market. Couldn't believe it. Thank goodness for income tax refunds!

Spec's on a 60's Classic Player:

Designed by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder, Greg Fessler
Vintage Ping Tuners
Fender Custom Shop '69 Single Coils
12" Radius
Two Point tremolo with vintage saddles
Full Vintage logos
Tinted Maple Neck with rosewood fretboard
Heel adjustable truss rod
Mint Green Pickguard

You can't beat that with a stick! (Nor would you want to!)

Great deal!

Just to check, the middle pickup on the '69 custom shop set is not a reverse wound pickup?

Correct. The 69s are a true vintage Fender pickup set.

What a deal! I bought a Classic Player 60s when they were first released and have always said that it's the best Strat I ever bought for $800. Your price was absolutely insane. Congrats and enjoy!

What would happen if I switch the leads and/or flip the middle pickup around? Would that act like a reverse wound pickup or just sound like its out of phase?

I took off the PG yesterday so I could wire up the tone control to the bridge pickup. I was very pleasently surprised to see the pickups were intialed and dated by no other than Abigail Ybarra!

A good case is key for a treasure like that! I went on Amazon and bought one of these for $99 when I had to ship mine back from overseas:

http://www.amazon.com/Fender-Accessories-099-6101-506-Electric-Guitar/dp/B001KD2CPC/ref=pd_cp_MI_0

Not only is it indestructible, it sports the Fender logo. I also kept the box it came in because I literally had to mail it home...

To me, it was worth the investment to keep my guitar safe. And it made it home without a scratch!

I had one of those cases and I'm looking for another. What's funny is its near impossible to find a used one!

Great score!
That's the guitar I wanted.
I had to make one from a Deluxe Player.

Wow, just wow. That guitar would be somewhere north of $700 in the UK. I need a jealous smiley.
