I don't like sound from SCN in my Fender,so I will change them. Which noiseless pickups have the most "vintage" characteristics?

Tnx,Morlow.

DiMarzio Virtual Vintage are noiseless while offering plenty of the proto-typical Strat "quack".

I've heard good things about the Area 61s and I personally like Gold Lace Sensors.

I LOVE the Area series....particularly the Area 58 for the neck position.
3 Area 67's are going to be REALLY bright sounding....almost shrill!
Area 67's make a great middle pickup when combined with an Area 58 in the neck.
I have that combo on 2 of my guitars and it sounds FANTASTIC!

Dimarzio Area or if you have the cash, Kinman.
I think the area 67 is too bright for the bridge, but hey I use the Heavy Blues in the bridge so I like my bridge less bright.

I have the Fender Hot Noiseless in my US Standard. Still sounded like a strat after they went in.

With the S-1 Switch added, it just rocks. Just Fat and dirty in series.

Hmm 'noiseless' and 'vintage' don't really go hand in hand, from a purists standpoint noiseless single coils is just wrong man...
Although Clapton uses them and who can question god?

The world is getting noisier IMHO with compact fluorescents, Computers and other such devices. I think the Dimarzio and Kinman products sound virtually identical to single coils or at least good enough for my very picky ears.
I'm interested to hear what the original poster thinks of his Kinmans when they arrive.
My Kinman P90hx set nearly brought tears of joy to my eyes :-)

I have SCNs but the pots are 500k instead of the stock 250k. I am very pleased with the results.

Consider swapping out the pots if you still have the stock 250ks. It's a lot cheaper than a new set of pickups and you might like the results.

Cheers,

I have the DiMarzio areas 58/67/61 and they give you the well sought after vintage Fender quack and they are pretty quite as well. I'm satisfied with them compared to the stock SCN's I had in my Deluxe, but i might just go traditional quite soon with Fat 50's or CS 54's, not that I'm dissatisfied with the Dimarzios, but there is something missing in tone when it comes to noiseless pups, Kinmans included... but at the end it could well be just me .... it's all a matter of taste. YMMV
Peace
H
