Hello,
I am new to the forum and I currently own ans Squier SE Special Straocaster, which I am thinking about replacing.
Would a modded squier strat be worth it, or would i be better off just buying a new guitar? Also, is there a big difference between a Good MIM Strat and a standard MIA strat :?:

All answers appriciated :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm new here myself but I have two pennies. :D

About 10 years ago I had an American Standard which unfortunately I had to sell, and this last Wednesday I bought a MiM Deluxe Roadhouse. I like the new guitar better. The sound coming from the Texas Special pups just blows me away and the quality, fit and finish equals guitars of much higher costing guitars.

He's right...I promise.
I brought home an inexpensive Squier which looked like a child's toy and sounded like a duck.
I modded it a little at a time and learned a lot (and still learning) and had a lot of fun in the process.
Now, it's actually not a half-bad guitar.

Does anyone have any experience of the classic series 50's or 70's? how do these compare to the 60's?

If you love the look and feel of your Squier, then I think it would be worth modifying. If have to realize that when it comes to resale you will most likely only get what the guitar is worth for an stock Squier.

Fender guitars are generally made with better parts. Let me state that there is nothing wrong with Squier guitars and can be modified to rival any Fender.

I have the '50s model. It's a really, really nice guitar. Plays and sounds good, looks good. I couldn't ask for a better guitar. The neck is a soft "V" shape and it has vintage frets and a 7.5" fretboard radius, so if any of that bothers you then I would buy a different guitar. I've never played any other Classic Series guitars, but if mine is any indicator of the quality of all of them then it's a tremendous guitar and a great value. Or maybe I just got a really good one. Not to start another US vs Mexico war, but this guitar is close to American quality if not just as good. It's also every bit as good as my '80s Japanese '52 Tele. This Strat will probably end up being my #1.

In the first couple of pictures, it almost looks Sonic Blue with a tiny tinge of Surf Green. It's actually Daphne Blue.

Some Squiers can be modified to be as good as a Fender. The CV series, absolutely. My old Japanese Squier Strat is as good as many high level Fenders. But you're never going to confuse a Bullet or Affinity with a Custom Shop or even a Mexican Standard unless you literally change out including the neck and body.
